Change

"For I am the Lord, I do not change; therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob." Malachi 3:6 NKJV

I don't know how many times I have heard - "The only constant in life is CHANGE." All my life I have been change averse. Yet, everything still changes - the weather, date, time, etc. Things come and go so quickly that I get whiplash! Eventually, you realize change comes whether or not you are ready for it.

My question to you - How often to we apply this same principle to God? Well, the sin of the 1960's are different than the 2020's. God is certainly more tolerant and understanding. What God requires of us - giving him priority...putting him first in all things is a thing of the past. God understands I have priorities and needs and, generally, other things to do. Now the big one - God called me to minister the Gospel to others. He must know I have changed and this just won't work. Let me take you to the Bible -

"For the gifts and callings of God are without repentance." Romans 11:29 KJV  Simply stated what God has called you to do - you must do.

Then one of my personal favorites - "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning." James 1:17 NKJV Once again, simply stated - God does not turn around or change His mind...not for anything. Even the good gifts He has for us are there, no take backs.

You see God is light! The only way we see shadows is if something gets in the way of the light. For instance, The sun blazes hot on the ground and the only it doesn't reach the ground is when something (i.e. a tree, person, building)...gets between it and the ground. See the message here - when  you step in the way, shadows pop up - but never because God is turning around or changing His plan. That's another message for sure!

Point in fact - God does not change! We do, the world does, time marches on - but God is the same yesterday, today and forever!! (Hebrews 13:8 NKJV) What was sin yesterday - guess what? Is still sin! What God requires of us in priority - hasn't changed. We must seek Him first. And yes, the ministry you are called to complete - no change. You better get busy! By the Way, ministry applies to everyone! You may not be called to be an apostle, pastor, teacher, evangelist, or prophet, but we all were told to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ.

God's expectations are the same - he does not change!

So dear reader, life can be difficult to navigate. The rules are always changing - some for good and others not so good. We deal with them every day and it gets exhausting!

The good news - God does not change! His promises are yea and amen! His plans for you are certain! All we have to do is accept that fact and lean in to the one that never changes!
